IMAGE & HERITAGE
Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria
This unique platform was created for poets, storytellers, folksingers, folk-dancers, artists, theatre practitioners, art promoters/managers, culture workers and arts journalists, to display their creative ingenuity Free of charge. The platform which was created in January 28, 2006, is wholly youth-centred and does not alienate adults who are regarded as the reservoir of wisdom from which the younger generation must drink. Today, Poetry Potter - a monthly event - has won quite the hearts of arts and literary enthusiasts. We are arts and literary organization committed to the rejuvenation of pride in our African heritage with a view to making the Nigerian society and African continent better than ever it was. Image & Heritage was disturbed by the immorality rapidly ravaging average African children through series of Western oriented programmes being shown on our National Television Stations and Satellite stations. Hence relegating the African oral literature (orature): poetry, folktale, folklore; and several educative cum entertaining African games, to the background.
